What's New in eWeLink App V5.17
Invalid Scene Marking: Easily Spot Broken Scenes with Deleted Devices
Tired of automations silently failing after a device is removed? With this update, scenes that are no longer functional due to deleted devices will now be clearly labeled as Invalid, giving you an instant heads-up and a chance to fix them.
Why This Matters
Previously, when you deleted a device, you might not have realized that its associated scenes had stopped working. Now, eWeLink flags affected scenes to help you maintain a stable smart home setup—no more guesswork.
How It Works: When a Scene Is Marked as Invalid
Only scenes that can no longer run properly due to a deleted device will be marked as "Invalid", helping you quickly spot and fix broken automations.
Here's how it works in common situations:
- If the only trigger or action in a scene is deleted, the scene is marked invalid and won't run.
- If the deleted device is part of multiple triggers or actions, and its removal does not prevent the scene from running (such as in OR-triggered conditions or non-essential actions), the scene will still work. The missing device will be flagged with a "Deleted device" note for easy identification.
If the deleted device is re-added to your account, eWeLink may auto-repair the scene after a refresh. Once restored, auto scenes will stay disabled until you turn them back on, while manual scenes can be used right away.
Google Home Device Sync: Control Synced Matter Devices Directly in eWeLink
eWeLink now supports syncing and controlling Google Home devices directly within the app, leveraging Google Home APIs to integrate devices from the Google Home Matter fabric. This eliminates the need to switch platforms while expanding your control options—whether you prefer voice commands via Google Home or centralized management in eWeLink.
Currently, synced Matter devices include Matter lights with dimmable, cool-warm, and colorful capabilities, with support for more device types coming soon.
Key Benefits
- Sync Existing Google Home Setups: Bring your Google Home households, including room structures and device names, into eWeLink for local management.
- Easily Add Matter Devices: Add new Matter-compatible devices to synced households using a QR code or pairing code — no switching apps required.
- Enjoy Seamless Cross-Platform Control: Leverage Google Home APIs to bring Matter devices already added in the Google Home Matter fabric into eWeLink. No need to re-onboard—just sync and control them directly from eWeLink, expanding your smart home control options across platforms.
How It Works
- Link Google Home Households
- Navigate to Add Device > More Options > Link Google Home.
- Complete Google account authorization to sync one household at a time (repeat for multiple households).
- Synced Devices and Structure
- Locally stored household details: home names, room names, and device names.
- Your "Bedroom > Nightstand Lamp" setup in Google Home will appear just like that in eWeLink.
- Flexible Device Management
- Reassign devices to different rooms within the linked Google Home household.
- Remove entire households if needed.
- Add New Devices via a Synced Home
- Within a synced household, you can add Matter-enabled devices (like Matter lights with dimmable, cool-warm, and colorful capabilities) using a QR code or pairing code.
eWeLink V5.17 brings smarter scene management and better cross-platform control. Easily spot and fix broken scenes affected by deleted devices and enjoy seamless control of your Google Home devices within eWeLink.
The new version has been submitted to Google Play and will roll out gradually over the next few days. iOS users—hang tight, the update is expected to arrive by the end of June.
